In this session you’ll spend the morning in the shelter’s medical wing learning about the roles of the veterinarian, vet tech and operations manager. You’ll also go inside the surgical suite and watch the veterinarian perform spay and neuter surgeries, learn what medical care is given to animals in our care and how our medical team landed their jobs. This session is great for future veterinarians, vet techs and teens interested in working in an animal shelter.  **TEENS WILL OBSERVE ACTUAL SURGERIES**

January 30

10 a.m. – Noon

Location: Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control

Each year the Humane Society of the United States releases a list they call the “Horrible Hundred” outlining the worst offender breeders in the country. Four breeders on that list are in Northeast Indiana. At Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control we advocate adopting a pet in need at a shelter but know that some people choose to go to a breeder for a specific breed of dog. In this session we’ll learn about the difference between a responsible breeder and a puppy mill. We’ll also learn the important questions anyone should as a breeder when considering buying a puppy.
